The first lookout on this site, circa 1951, was an 8'x10' ground house similar to a gable L-4, but of local design and sided with green roofing material. The second lookout was a wooden 8'x8' cab on an 8' tower built betweeen 1954-57 and removed in 2001. In 2002 the present 13'x13' metal cab with catwalk on a 10' tower with an attached living quaters lookout went into service. Woodrow Wilson established the Dinosaur National Monument in 1915 and Franklin Roosevelt expanded it in 1938.
