Once there were more than 50 lookouts on the Mt. Hood National Forest, including one at the summit of the 11,245’ peak, but today only six remain. The first structure at Devil’s Peak Lookout was a 12’x12’ log cabin with cupola built in 1924. It was replaced with an L-4 ground cab in 1933. The current L-4 cab with catwalk on a 10’ treated timber tower was constructed in 1952. Now inactive.
